It was a long travel day for me. I started at 9:15 AM just South of Katiki Point and made it to Murchison in the NW corner of the South Island by 6:00 PM. It was a nice day for a drive, I didn’t have any clouds until I got to Lewis Pass, and then it cleared out again by the time I got down to Murchison. In the long stretch up to Christchurch, I could see the Southern Alps including Mount Cook far off to the left. There were a couple potential places to photograph near Lewis Pass but a combination of the clouds and the typical NZ lack of places to stop and look, I didn’t manage to shoot anything until I got to my campsite. The Murchison River flows right behind and I got a nice reflection in front of some rapids.
